Rivermont ELC features two programs to meet the needs of several developmental and age levels of children. The Pre-K programs are designed for three-,four-, and five-year-old children (children are required to be potty trained). The Pre-K programs are licensed by the state and exceed state requirements. WeeCare has programs for one-, two-, and three-year-olds. Programs run from late August to mid-May and offer Monday through Thursday classes from 9am to 2pm. Our Learning Center closely follows the schedule of the Hamilton County School System, including their vacation schedule for fall break, Christmas holiday, and spring break. Wee Care Program

Our Wee Care program serves children ages 10 months to 3 years of age.

Classes meet two days per week: Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Baby Class: Our classroom provided for the development of babies (10 months old) up to 18 months of age take safety very seriously. The youngest of the children are given their own space separate from older infants where they can investigate and explore their surroundings in a warm and familiar environment. Our caregivers encourage playtime through tactile discovery and sensory development. Mobility is also a critical facet of the services we provide for the care of babies. Children are given ample room to move where they wish, under strict supervision within their restricted area. We feel this freedom of movement is an excellent method for stimulating each child's natural instincts and tendencies towards mobility.

When they are ready, babies are given additional encouragement to take the next steps toward learning how to walk. Playtime is another essential aspect of our baby classes as our rooms contain a wide array of stimulating toys, puzzles, and recreational areas where babies can explore and investigate their surroundings. They will encounter dazzling colors, curious textures, and our teachers spend quality time helping them learn and discover.

Toddler Classes: Our 2 year old and 3 year old classes are so much fun! These children are no longer babies—they’re “big kids” and deserve to be treated as special, unique individuals. Our Toddler programs can help your young toddler transition into a more sophisticated learning environment, from improving their vocabulary and motor skills to unleashing their imagination with art projects, pretend play, peg boards, drawing, building with blocks, playing with toy cars, and sensory skill activities (bring out the play-doh and finger paints!)  We also have play time outside or in the gym multiple times a day to start flexing those muscles.

We also work on social skills, teaching your child to share and get along with others. We can help them find healthy outlets for their anger, frustration, and pent-up energy. As part of our toddler program we’ll even send you a daily report summarizing your toddler’s activities and growth.

PRE-K Program

Rivermont Pre-Kindergarten serves children ages 3-5. Our licensed Pre-K is rated “3-Stars” (highest) by the State of Tennessee.

Classes meet three or four days per week from 9:00 am-2:00 pm.

Pre-k program

Our unique combination of play and academic learning can’t be found anywhere else. Some of our preschool program activities involve one-on-one interaction between a child and teacher, while others include small groups of children learning, sharing and playing together. At ELC, we’ll help your preschool-aged child increase his or her self-esteem and sense of individuality. In our preschool programs, each of our kids’ activities can be tailored specifically to your child’s needs and learning style.

We truly care about each child who enters our school and want to do our best to help him or her succeed and reach their maximum potential. We can help children recognize and develop talents and get a head start on education in subjects such as math, reading, science, music, and more before they head off to elementary school.

student literacy assessment

We prepare your child socially, emotionally, and academically to excel in these critical years.  To ensure that we as a school, and your child are on target, we use one benchmarking literacy test in the spring of the preschool years.  This informs you as the parent how your child is doing, and gives you real data that you can use.

This allows us to take note of any child that may be in need of some extra help, and we can help facilitate getting them the extra attention they may need early, to prevent any longer term issues.  This literacy assessment is completely optional, and it is not used for anything other than a confidential tool for you and your teachers to help better assess the needs your child may have.
